How to Have Fun at Prom

Prom picture available at http://www.outerinner.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/prom-group.jpg on April 27,2012
Hey Bloggers! Today i’m going to write about what’s on everyone’s mind right about now: Prom! Here is what’s everyone is looking for right about now:
-The perfect dress/tux
-The best shoes to wear
-The most gorgeous hairstyle
-And of course, the right person to be by their side the whole time

Everyone knows your prom night is supposed to be special and magical. Some people wait to go just their senior year, and some try to go every year in high school just to have fun with friends. Even according to Prom Girl.com:

"Ten, twenty, or maybe even thirty years from now you'll want to sit back and reminisce about the "good old days."  One memory you'll probably want to relive is that of your prom.  There are many ways to help you immortalize one of the most special nights of your life. "

But when you go to prom you want to be comfortable and have fun! So here is so tips:
-Don’t wear a super tight dress or tux because then you won’t be able to dance and have fun with your friends. You don’t want to be just sitting there all awkward.
-If you can’t barely walk in your shoes; don’t wear them. Just wear something that's cute and easy to walk/dance in.
-Don’t care about what everyone thinks about you. It’s your prom, so who cares if you can’t dance? Neither can half the people on the dance floor so don’t let that ruin your night. So get up and have some fun!
-You do not have to have a date to prom. A lot of people go with a group of friends and still have an amazing night! So if you don’t have a date; don’t let that stop you from going! Just get some of your friends to go with you and have an awesome night!

When you go to prom your parents are trusting you not to go do something stupid. If you will be too embarrassed to tell your parents what you did; you shouldn’t do it.

A lot of people who go to prom like to go to an after party. I’m in highschool and I know a lot of the stuff that does happen at the after party or just the night of prom. Just know that if you feel pressured to do anything you don’t want to do just tell them no or walk away. You don’t want to end up regretting anything about your special night.

Are you being Bullied?

Stop Bullying avaible at http://images.sodahead.com/polls/002285903/4629475108_NoBullies_xlarge.jpeg on April 23, 2012

Bullying is a huge topic in the world right now. Many young kids and teenagers are being bullied by other classmates and peers.

People would define bullying as many different things but according to Bully Free.com they state :

"Bullying is a form of aggressive behavior that is intentional, hurtful, (physical and psychological), and/or threatening and persistent (repeated). There is an imbalance of strength (power and dominance). "

There is a law out stating that if a teacher sees a student getting bullied they must report it. Anyone who is caught bullying and hurting someone will be put in jail/juvenile. Here are two stories about teenagers being bullied.

On April 18 2012, a ten year old boy from Ohio brought a toy bb gun to school to scare off his bullies. He has been bullied for a few years because, he has to wear braces on his ankles and because of how small he is. About a year ago a few kids older then him put him in the trash can. By the end of the school day the young boy had shown the gun to six other classmates and even threatened to shoot it.

Over the weekend, a fourteen year old Kenneth committed suicide because he was bullied about being gay. About a month before he was very popular and had a lot of friends.  But when he posted on facebook that he was gay everyone started turning on him and bullied him. They even made an anti-gay website and added all of his friends. A week before he took his life, he started getting threatening phone calls but when his mother tried to ask what was wrong he would cover his pain with a smile and tell her everything was okay.

So here is some tips for being bullied:

How to Save a Life!

Suicide picture at http://www.flickr.com/photos/76261353@N00/5844915 on April 17, 2012

Suicide is a very serious topic, about one million people die each year from committing suicide. In this blog i’m going to give you tips on how to help someone who is thinking about suicide and how to tell if someone is thinking about suicide.

According to helpguide.org “Most people who commit suicide don't want to die—they just want to stop hurting.” People think if they die all the pain will go away. This is physically true but mentally wrong. When you commit suicide you are leaving your friends and family who deeply love and care about you.

People who wants to commit suicide feel that there is no way of relief so they decide to take their own life. Many people want to find another way out but they can’t find one, so they believe death is the only way.

How can you tell if someone is thinking about suicide? Here are some warning signs:

Talking about suicide
Any talk about suicide, dying, or self-harm, such as "I wish I hadn't been born," "If I see you again...," and "I'd be better off dead."
Seeking out lethal means
Seeking access to guns, pills, knives, or other objects that could be used in a suicide attempt.
Preoccupation with death
Unusual focus on death, dying, or violence. Writing poems or stories about death.
No hope for the future
Feelings of helplessness, hopelessness, and being trapped ("There's no way out"). Belief that things will never get better or change.
Self-loathing, self-hatred
Feelings of worthlessness, guilt, shame, and self-hatred. Feeling like a burden ("Everyone would be better off without me").
Getting affairs in order
Making out a will. Giving away prized possessions. Making arrangements for family members.
Saying goodbye
Unusual or unexpected visits or calls to family and friends. Saying goodbye to people as if they won't be seen again.
Withdrawing from others
Withdrawing from friends and family. Increasing social isolation. Desire to be left alone.
Self-destructive behavior
Increased alcohol or drug use, reckless driving, unsafe sex. Taking unnecessary risks as if they have a "death wish."
Sudden sense of calm
A sudden sense of calm and happiness after being extremely depressed can mean that the person has made a decision to commit suicide.

If you are worried someone is having thoughts about suicide you should follow these tips to help them.
1-Just talk to the person, let them know you are concerned about them.
2-If someone tells you they are wanting to commit suicide you should ask them the following questions: How do you plan on do it? What would you need to carry out your plan? Do you know when you plan on doing it? Are you even sure you're going to go through with it?
Then follow the chart below to tell how close they are to suicide.

Low — Some suicidal thoughts. No suicide plan. Says he or she won't commit suicide.
Moderate — Suicidal thoughts. Vague plan that isn't very lethal. Says he or she won't commit suicide.
High — Suicidal thoughts. Specific plan that is highly lethal. Says he or she won't commit suicide.
Severe — Suicidal thoughts. Specific plan that is highly lethal. Says he or she will commit suicide.

3- Offer them help and let them know you are there for them.
4- Let an adult know the situation to get help as soon as possible.

People commit suicide for many different reasons. For example they might have just lost a family member or they are depressed and lonely, so they feel this is the other way. But you can help save their life if you follow these tips.

A life quote
Hello Bloggers,
I'm K.Denise(: I'm going to start making new blogs about teen advice. The reason i’m going to make this blog is to help the teenagers get through their teenage years as easy and possible.

In the future you will find all kind of advice about love, bullying, relationships, girl or guy problems, everyday life, friends and family and many more. I’m going to give advice about stuff i see around school or out in the public because i’m sure other people will go through the same things.

I picked this topic because I want to help out anyone I can to make this world a better and safer place to live. I am a teenager myself so I know how it feels to go through some of the stuff every teenager goes through.

I really hope you guys and girls will enjoy my blogs and take some of the stuff to heart. I am kinda new to this so it will take me a little while to get use to the whole blogging experience.

I just got done with the book 13 reasons why by Jay Asher, and i don’t want anyone killing him or herself because of others stupidity. No matter how bad life can get you should never want to hurt yourself or others.
If you can ever think of a good topic for me to talk about one day please just comment one or message me a topic. You may feel you are the only one but trust me you're not.

I promise you guys I will do my very best to give the most helpful advice I can give all the time.

Another reason I started this blog was for my English class, and I hope even when the year is up i’ll still continue you blog. Together we can make this world a safer place for the future adults.
